It seems comments that were made on subtitle pages more than three months ago are lost.
For example, I remember I wrote a comment on the English subtitles of “Musical Performance - Sam Haywood at TEDxAsheville” and you can confirm that with activity logs but now there is no comment:
I checked all the comments I made and it seems
- Comments on subtitle pages older than three month are lost.
- Comments on video pages and recent comments (< 3 months) are kept.
On June 29, 2013, Amara switched to a different data model, which involved making major changes to many data structures, including subtitle languages, subtitle versions, and comments. As a result, there may be problems with displaying comments added before that date. Sorry your translations were affected.
Our developers will try to get the older comments properly displayed in the UI. How urgent, in your opinion, that issue might be? Do the missing comments interfere with processing in-progress translations?
Until the problem gets a permanent fix, if you need to check any particular comment, please feel free to contact me and I will look it up for you in the database.
The urgency of retrieving comments older than 6 months would not be high in many cases, but this is a rather big issue on the reliability of the system. I just hope you make sure this kind of thing never happens again and restore all the lost comments.
